Service intervals in the manual assume temperate conditions. Here's what heat, humidity and airborne dust actually do to filter life in the UAE.
The service intervals printed in an equipment manual were established under test conditions that look nothing like a summer in the UAE. Ambient temperatures above 45 °C, high humidity on the coast and a near-constant load of fine airborne dust all shorten filter life considerably — and the manual's figures are the ceiling, not the target.
Air filtration suffers first and most visibly. Fine sand loads an air element far faster than the ordinary dust the interval assumes, and a restricted intake means reduced power, higher exhaust temperature and increased fuel burn long before any warning appears on the dash. Fit a restriction indicator if the machine does not have one, and treat it as the authority rather than the hour meter.
Hydraulic oil degrades faster at elevated temperature. Every 10 °C rise above about 60 °C roughly halves oil life, and as the oil oxidises it forms varnish that sticks spools and blocks orifices. Return line elements should be changed on a shortened interval, and oil analysis is genuinely worth the cost on machines running continuously through summer.
Engine oil and fuel filtration both deserve attention as well. Condensation in partly filled fuel tanks is a persistent problem in coastal humidity, and water in fuel destroys injection equipment quickly and expensively. Drain water separators on a schedule and don't leave tanks part-empty overnight.
As a practical starting point, we suggest reducing air and hydraulic filter intervals by around a third for machines working through the summer months in dusty conditions, and reviewing that against what the removed elements actually look like. If they come out clean, extend it back. If they come out loaded, shorten it further.
